The SBDC Hispanic Satellite is staffed with experienced leaders who assist SBDC clients grow and develop their businesses.
Dennis King serves as the Director for the SBDC Hispanic Satellite/ Silicon Valley and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley and was educated at San Jose State University and Foothill College. Under his leadership a first of its kind pilot “SBDC Hispanic Satellite” center was founded in the Nation and earned Top Economic Impact awards in the Northern California Region. He has been active in U.S. politics on local, state and national levels. Dennis has worked in sales, marketing and communications for a number of startup companies in Silicon Valley. He was a general contractor and president of an energy conservation services company, and editor of a local regional magazine, a former marketing director and high tech editor of another local magazine, and contributing writer to other publications.
Chief Financial officer for the SBDC Hispanic Satellite/Silicon Valley also operates her won bookkeeping and financial services business. Lourdes brings a strong base of knowledge and experience in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, marketing, management start-up, and business organizational culture. She loves to share financial management tools and teach Quickbooks to help small business get organized and bankable.
Carl Davis Jr.
President/Executive Director Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce. Carl brings a rare mix of over 20 years of business management and leadership skills pertinent for teaching entrepreneurship. He has Over 20 years of analysis of business plans, business models, financial models. He has also created the first small business incubator program in Northern California for Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce.
Anita Garcia is the owner of Momentus, Events by Design. She specializes in event management, planning, production and is a business generalist at the SBDC. Her career in event management has allowed her to produce events worldwide. Anita is a Certified Meeting Professional, and serves on a number of local boards. Anita has been with the SBDC since 2011.
Mimi Hernández enjoys her role as a business advisor and education coordinator at the SBDC centers. Mimi holds LHP& C broker licenses and is certified as an insurance counselor. Her work with entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley entails general business advice, start-up processes, legal compliance, agency operations, customer relations, operations, and risk management. Mimi earned her AA in marketing and business administration at San Jose City College. Mimi has earned distinctions for her work with SBDC client for Excellence in Economic Impact.
Nancy Islas-Aldaña is a member of the diplomatic mission of Mexico for the Consul General office as the Coordinator of Political, Economic and Educational Affairs. She specializes in business administration, bookkeeping, entrepreneurship, establishing and supporting working relationships with other organizations and economic development practitioner. She also conducts professional development workshops and conferences on matters related to education. Nancy teaches QuickBooks and other financial tools, and is completing her MBA.
Margaret Jackson is a motivational and small business coach, and the CEO of Business on the Edge, Inc. She has more than 25 years as a business professional. Margaret Jackson a highly experienced and skilled marketing communications and public relations adviser, strategist, and adept in small business development coaching. Jackson is known as a passionate and dedicated public figure, a community pillar, and an advocate for small business owners, women professionals, women in business, and the successful advancement of young people.
Jessica Munoz’s full time work last year with the healthy corner store program and her family tradition of entrepreneurship has allowed her to develop experience in working with small businesses such as retail corner stores, restaurants, landscaping, and other construction businesses. She also has a strong passion for helping small start-ups with business growth and developing an online presence. Jessica is knowledgeable in Department of Environmental Health permitting and working with federal agencies such as WIC, EBT and SNAP. Jessica is completing her studies of business marketing at San Jose State University.
Jimmy Chinh Nguyen
Jimmy Chinh Nguyen an entrepreneur with extensive experience in all aspects of startup development and management. Skills include: starting and running a business on a shoestring budget, developing business plans, creating ownership structures, pitching and fundraising, managing investor relations, launching betas, and financial management. Jimmy al has years of experience developing high-level relationships and business opportunities within the Vietnamese and Chinese markets. As an SBDC adviser he brings unique knowledge and skills to San Jose-based entrepreneurs, to help them become super successful, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy.
Nga Nguyen holds an MBA from San Jose State University and studied international commerce. She serves as a project manager at PacificWide Business Grouping. At the SBDC she enjoys designing strategies and developing marketing plans that allow companies to grow. She works with entrepreneurs to identify investors by utilizing marketing campaigns and personal contacts.
Pablo Pineda - Human Leap CEO. HR consultant for small and medium businesses. Has over 12 years’ experience in the public and private sector. Specializes in human resource audits, employee handbooks, job descriptions, staff planning, recruitment and selection, labor relations, job performance, training for managers and supervisors.
Santha holds an AA in Accounting and Sociology from De Anza College, her background in lending extends over 20 years. She has a passion for working with business owners in finding finance that can enable them to expand their operations, purchase equipment, or acquire commercial property.
Yacanex Posadas studied Business Administration. He works with an array of business with an emphasis in the food industries to provide sound counseling to improve operations, increase sales, profitability and in updating marketing strategy.
Armando Ricardez as a small business owner he understands firsthand the rewards and struggles faced by entrepreneurs in the day to day operations of running your own business. Having opened and operated several cafeterias and family restaurants has given him the experience and knowledge to help others tackle some of the obstacles and frustration that are associated with opening a new restaurant. He has successfully passed countless inspections from the Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health, and is familiarized with the California retail food code. Armando believes the resources that SBDC provides in conjunction with his many years of experience in the restaurant and food service industry will be extremely beneficial to the clients he serves.
Maurice earned BSAA in Electrical Engineering from Belfast College of Technology. He uses his problem solving strengths to help business who are seeking out opportunities to do business with large corporation thru corporate diversity initiatives.
